Blanche the Bird needs a home

Blanche is a king pigeon who came to us all the way from California, where he had been found as a stray. King pigeons are commonly eaten for meat in California, and many people buy and release them in an effort to save them; however, being meat birds, they are too heavy to fly well and are usually eaten by predators or hit by cars. Since California shelters are packed with pigeons, the vacationing family who found Blanche brought him back home to Indiana so he has a better chance of finding a home. (We are not sure of his gender, as it is very difficult to tell on pigeons.) His adoption fee is $20.
